snow day

We had our first proper snow day today. It feels like Christmas holidays already and it's only November 11th. Jo did a little knitting and then we went for a Tim Horton's run. When in Rome. We took some photos.

Also, I finally made it to the Sam Waller Museum, which is quite the interesting place. Sam Waller was a local collector of bizarre and beautiful animals and natural artifacts (as well as the not so natural artifacts. Like the fleas dressed in wedding outfits brought in from Mexico.) Also been making bread these days, Daniela's no-knead recipe, it's delicious.

A Theatre Under the Stars production from Vancouver that came to The Pas in 1920!

The more interesting things (dressed fleas) we didn't get to photograph...

Snow and Sun days

Two weeks ago, we flew back from Vancouver to Saskatoon (a visit for my Dad's birthday and Jo's thesis defense, both of which were successful!) with plans to drive the six hours back up to The Pas. Winter storm hit and we were stuck in Saskatoon, for two nights. We found some coffee shops and stayed with a friend's brother, all was not lost. We finally decided to hit the road back home. Here are some photos from our drive from Saskatoon to The Pas, a wintery paradise/death trap we were lucky enough to escape! It was quite a view, actually.

That's the sun peeking up there on the top of the trees. When there was no sun, it was all monochromatic and beautiful. Since we've got back the weather has been quite glorious. Sunny every day with temperatures reaching a balmy high of 10 degrees.  One sunny late afternoon, we decided to drive the two minutes to get to the river's edge where the sun sets and take a few photos. It looks like this most sunny afternoons, which is often these days. Here are a few choice selections.
